The London Borough of Hackney has a strong and growing culture and creative arts industry. It is home to many budding (and established) artists, community arts organisations and entertainment venues (such as the famous Hackney Empire theatre on Mare Street!).
The ‘Chapel-Arts’ initiative seeks to also celebrate the cultural and creative arts heritage in Hackney – showcasing a distinctively Christian perspective of the arts.
‘Crossroads Concert’ is a gospel concert event that will feature a variety of Christian artists. Their performances will be characterised by positive themes, which will also include the Christian message of hope and spiritual renewal.
‘The Red Book Gospel Choir’ is a gospel choir made up of members of Hampden Chapel. Singing both contemporary gospel songs and classic Pentecostal hymns, the choir captures the rich Pentecostal heritage and tradition of Hampden Chapel (a Pentecostal community that has worshiped in South Hackney since 1927!).
The ‘Crossroads Concert’ was launched on the 19th April 2014, and it featured special guest artists RepEnt., and the ‘M.I.N.D’ dance group (amongst others).
