‘Richer but less happy…’ formed part of the heading of a newspaper article which highlighted the growing and routine use of antidepressants and painkillers amongst many modern westerners. Even with relatively easier access to most of the ‘stuff’ that we are often told will lead to happiness, many, it would appear, still ‘can’t get no satisfaction’.
Perhaps we don’t need as much ‘stuff’ in our lives as we need a deep sense of ‘optimism’ …a sense that we are valued regardless of our social or economic status; and that, outside the ‘rat race’, we can pursue equally exhilarating and rewarding goals in life – life-goals that will cause us to live rich and satisfying lives because for the most part they seek the betterment of others.
This is what we will be talking about in our September teaching series, ‘Higher Calling’. At its heart, we will be highlighting the rich and ‘out of this world’ life that can be experienced when people begin to believe that God really does love them; and then go on to share – in words and deeds – that love with others.
So why don’t you join us for the ‘Higher Calling’ teaching series starting Sunday 14th Sept 2014 @ The Chapel?…we believe you’ve got one!
