So many defining events take place at the altar – people get married ‘at the altar’, children are dedicated ‘at the altar’, and most people have come to know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour…‘at the altar’
There are several passages in the Bible (especially in the Old Testament) which suggest that spiritual transformation often took place at the altar. This is because the altar was perceived as a ‘sacred space’ – a place where God met with people. That encounter would change many, moving them closer to God’s will and purpose for their lives.
In this five part sermon series (starting Sunday 2nd June, 10.30am) we will be looking at the idea that the altar may also symbolise a space where people can experience God’s blessing, provision, peace, and much more!
It is our hope that people will be stirred to access the set ‘time and space’ to encounter God during our worship services. But that’s not all! We also hope that people will desire to create altar’s in other places too – i.e. at home, or at work.
In the evening services at 6.30pm we will discuss the morning’s message in greater depth, and share strategies for applying the message to our lives and in the life of the church.
See you soon @ The Chapel!
